Hey guys, I have read all of the threads about resetting the brake pad replacement warning on multiple web sites and I have tried this process 100 times and I cannot get this thing to reset. I replaced my rear brake pads. I did not replace the sensor. If your knob is worn like the one in my subject vehicle (shown here), replace it with a new one when reassembling. Remove the radio and IHKA panel. See our tech article on radio and IHKA panel replacing. Figure 4 Remove the shift knob and shift boot. Pull the side of the shift boot out of the center console. Well after having intermittent iDrive problems (see this thread and video) last Summer I had a completely new CCC unit fitted and for the last 8months all has been well. Alas as summer approaches again it seems the iGremlins that live in the iDrive have been awoken from their iHibernation and gone about destroying things again. My iDrive system doesn't always work. Usually the first start in the morning the system kicks on with no problems. However, after that it's a hit or miss shot if it comes back on. Sometimes it will sometimes it won't. When it won't, the screen will still flash the BMW letters before shutting off and restarting. The software fix is an i level upgrade which is supposed to fix 95% of cars, unfortunately not in my case so a new headunit has been fitted under warranty, while this issue still exists its a good idea to keep the car under warranty as a new unit is £1,500 + vat + fitting & coding. So the total cost is well over £2K. This will require removing the 3 T20 screws (red circles) and then pulling the module out. STOP HERE, If you are replacing the entire module, screw in your new module and reverse the steps. You are done. If you are replacing the buttons themselves after the module is pulled out, remove the 4 T6 (orange circles) screws.
